What are some standard signs that you're having HVAC issues?

  • The blowing of hot air when your system is off
  • Low air pressure when your system is engaged
  • Bad smelling odours coming from your vents
  • Leaks or stains on the ground under your vehicle
  • Strange noises when the HVAC system is turned on.

All of these situations are indicators that you may need an HVAC repair.

What causes HVAC system failure?

There are many things that can contribute to the failure of your HVAC system.

Some causes of a broken HVAC system are:

  • Leaking refrigerant: The compressor cools the refrigerant while keeping air moving all the time, but due to punctures or holes in the hoses or tubes, a leak can occur. Metal corrosion, poor installation and other factors can cause a decrease in refrigerant levels.
  • An overworked compressor: The compressor is designed to process engine gases. When other elements are present like air, water, dirt, or oil, the system can become contaminated making it harder to operate and potentially resulting in total failure.
  • A condenser that is blocked or clogged can cause HVAC systems to fail.: The condenser converts gases into liquids, which expels heat from your rig. Materials accumulate over time, causing a layer of dirt and grime to form on the condenser’s coils. When this takes place, your HVAC system only blows hot air because the refrigerant fails to cool down.
